The conference “Russia’s North” will be held on March 11-15 in Tot’ma, Vologda Region. The event will touch upon issues of study and preservation of historical and cultural heritage.

The event will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the poet Nikolai Rubtsov.

The conference is organized by the Vologda State University, administration of Tot’ma and Tot’ma Museum Association, Vologda Branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the Foundation for the Development of Public Initiatives " Salt of the Earth ".

The conference “Russian North” will bring together over 130 experts in the field of history, philology, linguistics, geography, regional studies, anthropology, cultural studies and other disciplines. For five days, scientists and researchers from Russian regions, museum workers, graduate students will touch upon the problems of preserving historical and cultural heritage.

The following themes will be in the highlight of the conference: 
Historical and archival research of the Russian North; 
Geography and natural history; 
Tot’ma in the cultural picture of the Russian North; 
Literary aspect of the Russian North; 
Territorial marketing and branding of small towns; 
Art, museum collections and heritage; 
Current issues of cultural heritage preservation, including the salt heritage of the North.

The "Russian North" Conference has been serving as the most important platform for dialogue between science, the museum community and local initiatives for ten years.
