"During the New Year holidays, more than 42,000 tourists visited the region. 270,000 people attended our major cities and sights in one day. Residents of Yaroslavl, Kirov, Kostroma, Arkhangelsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Leningrad regions, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Komi Republic plunged into the winter fairy tale in the Vologda Region," said Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Region.

Vologda, Cherepovets, Veliky Ustyug, Kirillov and Totma became a magnet for tourists.

Over 41,000 tourists headed to the residence of Ded Moroz in Veliky Ustyug during New Year holidays. Ded Moroz lives in his wooden palace in the pine forests at Votchina 15 km off the town of Veliky Ustyug on the bank of the Sukhona River.

The residence of Ded Moroz includes not only the house of Ded Moroz. Here you can find a wide range of sports facilities such as skis, sledges, boats, and fishing-rods. These facilities are spread throughout the territory and include sports to suit every taste. The residence provides a true air of New Year's fairy tale atmosphere and the focus on the pure pleasures of the great outdoors.

The festive program ended on January 11 when the Ded Moroz train returned from a long trip across Russia to Veliky Ustyug. Ded Moroz set off on his trip to Russian regions on November 19, 2025. Ded Moroz' traditional New Year trip lasted till January 11, 2026. The train stopped at over 70 Russian cities and towns.
