Vologda will become home to XVI International Theatre Festival “Voices of History" from June 19 throughout 27. The festival has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region, it is a favourite festival of all theatre-goers.
The Festival “Voices of History” has come into being in Vologda in 1991 as the show of performances of professional theatres in historical and architectural environment. The main theme of the festival is theatre and history.
Over 20 performances are to be shown at XVI International Theatre Festival "Voices of History".
The performances will be shown in the open air, in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin, which is a point of interest itself. Holding such a festival near the Kremlin is hardly a matter of chance.
Theatres from St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Novgorod, Vladimir, Syktyvkar, Severodvinsk, Kotlas, Murmansk, as well as the Vologda Drama Theatre and the Theatre for Young Spectators, the Cherepovets Chamber Theatre and the Cherepovets Theatre for Children and Youth will participate in the Festival.
Famous Russian artists and theatre critics will come to Vologda to evaluate the competitive performances of the XVI International Theater Festival "Voices of History".
The Festival will include round tables where theatre critics, directors and participants of the festival will discuss development of theatre in modern society, adherence to traditions and new trends in theatrical art.
