On April 12, the first large-scale exhibition in Vologda dedicated to the art of Japanese graphic stories opened in Vologda. It will last till June 9.

The exhibition allows everyone to plunge into the world of the most famous Japanese graphic works. It features 36 sketches and manuscripts.

Born in 1959 outside Osaka Japan, Tamekane studied at Sokei Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo. Tamekane lived and worked in France from 1991 to 1994, further perfecting his skills in the art of printmaking.

Yoshikatsu Tamekane is a woodblock printer, but he adds texture to his images using collagraphic techniques. Mr. Tamekane uses such things as string, resinous gum and paper in order to add relief to the surface of the print. He also incorporates gold and silver leaf in many of his works.
