Vologda will host the International Folk Crafts Festival “City of Crafts” on June 27-30, 2024.
Applications for participation in the International festival “City of Crafts” can be sent by May 20 at gorod_remesel@mail.ru
Applications from artisans are received in the following categories - traditional female crafts, wooden and birch bark craft painting, valenki (kind of felt boots), wood engraving and wicker-work, blacksmithing, potter's craft and forgotten handicrafts.
The festival also includes creative workshops, lectures and round table meetings where leading experts on folk culture will share their ideas and projects.
In 2023 the International Folk Crafts Festival “City of Crafts” in Vologda entered the TOP 50 best events of the year. The National Calendar of Events project EventsInRussia.com selected 50 of the most significant and interesting events that took place in different parts of Russia throughout the year. The originality of the idea, the contribution of the project to the development of tourism, regularity of the event, mass character, availability of developed infrastructure, as well as transport accessibility and opportunities for accommodation and catering of guests were taken into account.
Last year, the festival brought together more than 600 craftsmen and artisans from 41 Russian regions and 6 foreign countries.
