Vologda will host IX International Music Competition named after Valery Gavrilin on April 23-27.

The festival is named after Valery Gavrilin, the great Russian composer, People's artist of Russia who was born in Vologda.

The competition is organized by the RF Ministry of Culture with an active backing of the Vologda Region Government. The project traces its history back to the early 2000s. The main objective of the event is to reveal new talents and to perpetuate the memory of Valery Gavrilin.

The International Music Competition named after Valery Gavrilin takes place every three years in the Vologda Region. The young musicians from 9 to 25 years old are evaluated by famous musicians, professors of leading Russia and foreign universities.

The competition is held in several different categories including piano, violin, cello, academic singing, accordion, pop music and musical composition.

The competition is held on the basis of the Vologda Regional College of Arts.

It is a real music forum where the jury members give master classes and share experience.
