The VOICES (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens) Festival will hold its tenth edition in Vologda from July 4th to 9th.

The film festival will gather European cinema lovers and will take an investigative look at young directors and their latest creations.

The VOICES Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Vologda Region Government and the Vologda City Administration.

"Our message is that cinema lives and will live, no matter what happens. The project continues. The festival has always been and will remain both a bridge of cultures and a link between young talents and masters”, said Maxim Gorbov, director of the festival.

VOICES will give the opportunity to the people of Vologda to take part in the festival’s activities and discover European cinema by attending daily screenings including a competition program composed of European first and second full-length movies.

Diverse activities will be opened to the public such as open-air screenings, a photo exhibition, and musical concerts, not to forget the ceremonies of Opening and Closure.

Since 2010 the VOICES (Vologda Independent Cinema from European Screens) Festival has been held in Vologda, an old Russian city in northwestern Russia. This event is aiming to take an interested look at current European cinema, and provides a unique opportunity to discover new talents. The competition includes a selection of first and second full-length fictions by European directors. The festival also features master-classes and round-table discussions.
