The competition for performers on wind and percussion "Northern Rhapsody" that was held in Cherepovets from April 23 through April 26 gathered about 2000 musicians from Russia, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Japan.
This is one of the most prestigious and significant wind music-related events, aimed at identifying young talented performers, exchanging pedagogical experience, expanding interregional and international cultural ties.
The founder of the competition is the Department of Culture of the Vologda Region. The competition is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Vologda Region Government and the Khalilov Wind Bands and Wind and Percussion Performers Society.
The competition aimed to identify the most talented and artistic young musicians and to open opportunities for further professional career. The competition for performers on wind and percussion "Northern Rhapsody" gathered musicians up to 35 years old.
The musicians were able to demonstrate their skills playing the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, tuba and percussion instruments.
The musical contest allowed participants not only to demonstrate their talent and skill, but also to exchange professional experience, to listen to the advice of prominent artists during master classes and round table discussions.
