Over 213,000 tourists visited the Vologda Region during New Year and Christmas holidays from December 31, 2022 to January 8, 2023, according to a study conducted by the Russian Association of Tour Operators.

25,329 tourists headed to the residence of Ded Moroz in Veliky Ustyug during New Year holidays. New Year and Christmas season are the busiest times in Veliky Ustyug as numerous visitors are keen to experience the true magic of New Year and Christmas in the Official Hometown of Ded Moroz.

The top ten of the most popular regions for winter vacation traveling includes such Russian cities and regions as Moscow (2 mln tourists), St. Petersburg (1 mln tourists), Tver Region, Krasnodar Region, Lipetsk Region, Kemerovo Region, Republic of Tatarstan and the Crimea.

According to TourStat agency, the number of Russians who have travelled to the Vologda Oblast during New Year holidays reached 90,000 people.

The Vologda Oblast has much to offer the discerning visitor. The region has a remarkable place on Russia's tourist map. With a unique cultural and historical heritage, the region, abundant with architectural monuments and arts, has great tourism potential.
