20 theatres from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Vologda and Kaluga arrived in Vologda to participate in the International Drama Festival Voices of History held from June 9 throughout June 19.

The festival Voices of History has come into being in Vologda in 1991 as the show of performances of professional theaters in historical and architectural environment.

The performances of professional theatres were shown in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin.

This year the Voices of History were held not only in the Vologda Kremlin, but also in the Vologda Drama Theatre, Vologda Theatre for Children and Youth, Vologda Puppet Theatre, Vologda Chamber Theatre, Cherepovets Chamber Theatre, Cherepovets Philharmonic Society and Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. The program of the drama festival included 25 performances.

The festival included round tables where theatre critics, directors and participants of the festival discussed problems of modern Russian theatre.
