The Voices of History Festival started in 1991 in Vologda as a showcase of performances in the historical and architectural surroundings. The festival has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region. Its main open-air stage is the territory of the unique ensemble of the Vologda Kremlin, which is a point of interest itself.
This year the Voices of History will be held not only in the historical setting of the Vologda Kremlin, but also in Cherepovets, Kirillov and Belozersk.
The Voices of History always attract the most skilful actors and repertory theatres. Twenty theaters from different cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Vologda and Kaluga) came to give performances in Vologda. Puppet theaters will also take part in the festival.
The program of the drama festival includes 25 spectacles; some productions will be presented twice in Vologda and Cherepovets.
The organisers of the festival are the Vologda Region Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda Region.
