Vologda will become home to XV International drama festival "Voices of History" from June 9 throughout June 19. The performances are shown in the open air, in the historical setting of the Vologda Kremlin, which is a point of interest itself. This year the Voices of History will be held not only in the historical setting of the Vologda Kremlin, but also in Cherepovets, Kirillov and Belozersk. The Voices of History always attract the most skilful actors and repertory theatres from Russian regions and foreign states.

“City of Crafts”, an International Folk Crafts Festival will take place in Vologda City on June 24-26. The festival is aimed at popularization of folk arts and handicrafts among the younger generation. According to the organizers, every day of the festival will be devoted to various programs that reveal to the audience the secrets of one of the folk crafts in the heart of Vologda - Kremlin Square. Artisans will show off their virtuosity in several categories - traditional female crafts, wooden and birch bark craft painting, valenki (kind of felt boots), wood engraving and wicker-work, blacksmithing, potter's craft and forgotten handicrafts. Living Crafts Picture is to appear in Vologda during the festival. Vologda’s residents and guests of the city will be able to watch how artisans make their masterpieces. The festival will also include creative workshops, lectures and round table meetings where leading experts on folk culture will share their ideas and projects.

The folklore festival “The Village - the Soul of Russia” will kick off on July 2. The festival unites the best amateur groups, artisans, researchers in the field of traditional folk culture. The creative project is aimed at preserving cultural identity, creating conditions for the development of traditional folk culture and promoting the cultural and historical heritage of the Vologda Region and various regions of Russia. Residents of Vologda’s villages are connoisseurs of folk culture. Here you can still hear old songs, get acquainted with original craftsmen who know the secrets of folk crafts - weaving, wood carving, lace weaving and birch bark weaving.

IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE scheduled for July 14-17 will be devoted to preservation and development of handicrafts as part of the original culture and heritage of the nation. The topic is especially important taking into account the fact that 2022 has been declared by the President of Russia the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. As part of IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE, the organizers want to draw the attention of modern craftsmen, artists and designers to the display of national traditions and handicrafts in lace works.
