The competition is held under the patronage of Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
The Governor's International music competition is held in the Vologda Region every three years. The main objective of the event is to reveal new talents, gifted musicians from Russian regions, the near and far abroad and to perpetuate the memory of Valery Gavrilin.
It is a significant event in the cultural life of the Vologda Region and Russia. This is one of the most ambitious projects aimed at popularizing the work of the outstanding Russian composer, a native of the Vologda Region Valery Gavrilin.
Taking into account the adverse epidemiological situation, this year the event is transferred to a remote and online format. VIII Gavrilin Governor’s International Competition for Young Musicians has gathered 167 musicians in the 9-to-25 age bracket from 33 Russian regions, and such foreign countries as India, China, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and Turkey.
The competition is held in several categories including piano, violin, cello, academic singing, accordion, pop music and musical composition.
