RUB 4.8 million have been allocated from the federal budget to replenish the book funds in the Vologda Region. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in early September.

"Updating library collections is a key issue in the development of libraries. That is why three years ago I decided to increase funding for purchase of books and periodicals from the regional budget tenfold – from one to ten million rubles annually, - said Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov. - Funds from the federal budget were allocated thanks to the instruction of the President of Russia. This initiative logically continues the strategy of re-equipping libraries according to the model standard. Vologda’s residents will be able to receive up-to-date information in comfortable modern conditions, and educate themselves not only in big cities, but also in rural areas."
