Vologda was to become home to XV International drama festival "Voices of History" from July 1 throughout July 10, 2021. But Voices of History announced it would postpone until summer 2022, a decision "aligned with the recent Volodga Region Government recommendations aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus."

Vologda Region will host XV International drama festival "Voices of History" from June 9 throughout June 19, 2022.

The festival "Voices of History", which emerged in 1991 as a review of the performances of professional theatres in the historical and architectural ensemble of the unique environment of the Vologda Kremlin has long been a hallmark of the Vologda Region, a favourite festival of all theatre-goers. In 2003 it received an international status. The performances are shown in the open air, in the historical setting of the Vologda Kremlin, which is a point of interest itself.

The Voices of History are held not only in the historical setting of the Vologda Kremlin, which is a point of interest itself, but also in the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery and the Museum of history and ethnography "Manor of the Galskoys” in Cherepovets City.

The Voices of History always attract the most skilful actors and repertory theatres from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Novgorod, Pskov, Vladimir, Arkhangelsk, Samara and other Russian cities. Theatres from the USA, Poland, Greece, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries come to give performances in Vologda. The focus of the festival is on the history of Russia and the world history.

The organisers of the festival are the Vologda Region Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda Region.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, Administrations of Vologda City, the city of Cherepovets; Kirillov District and Belozersk District.
