The International competition for performers on wind and percussion instruments "Northern Rhapsody" opened in Cherepovets on November 25 and lasted until December 15.
This year the music competition was held online via video recordings. It gathered about 2000 musicians from Russia and 14 foreign countries. The competition for performers on wind and percussion instruments "Northern Rhapsody" gathered musicians up to 35 years old that demonstrated their skills playing the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, tenor trombone, tuba and percussion instruments. Ensembles and orchestras were also welcome.
The musical contest allowed participants to demonstrate their talent and skill, and also to exchange professional experience.
The Northern Rhapsody contest was held with the support of the Vologda Region Government, the Association of brass bands and performers on wind and percussion instruments "Brass Society" and partners. This year "Northern Rhapsody" was devoted to the 100th anniversary of the legendary trumpet player Timofey Dokshitser, People's Artist of the RSFSR, soloist of the orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR.
