TourStat Analytic Agency published the list of Russia's most popular destinations for the upcoming New Year holidays. Veliky Ustyug is in the list of Russia's cities that will be most popular destinations for winter vacationing.
The top ten of the rating includes such Russian most popular destinations as Moscow, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Pyatigorsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Yalta and Veliky Ustyug.
Veliky Ustyug has much to offer the discerning visitor. It has a remarkable place on Russia's tourist map. With a unique cultural and historical heritage, the city, abundant with architectural monuments and arts, has great tourism potential.
With a population of about 32,000 people, the city is visited annually by up to 200,000 tourists.
The official residence of Ded Moroz (Russia's Santa Claus) is located in Veliky Ustyug. It is in traditional "terem" style. The residence welcomes visitors all year around, but naturally it is especially popular during the New Year's holiday season.
