Three months ago, the Vologda Lace Museum launched an international campaign Birds of Remembrance devoted to the 75th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War.
The museum received over two hundred works, and more than 700 craftswomen from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, Slovakia, Croatia, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, the USA and Australia confirmed their participation in the campaign. Later, one large piece of art will be created from lace cranes that have flown from different parts of the world to Vologda City.
The international campaign Birds of Remembrance is organized within the framework of IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE that has been postponed in line with a ban on large-scale events. It will be held in 2021. But organisers of IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE will accept applications for participation till July 1, 2020.
The International Lace Festival VITA LACE collects everything related to the world of linen industry: fabrics, clothes, textile, souvenirs, as well as looms, spinning machines and accessories. The International Lace Festival VITA LACE supported by the RF Ministry of Culture was held in Vologda three times – in 2011, 2014 and 2017. The international festival is held every 3 years.
