More than one hundred lithographs by the world-famous artist Salvador Dali have arrived for exhibition in Vologda. An exposition of works by one of the brightest representatives of surrealism has kicked off at the Shalamov House of the Vologda Regional Picture Gallery.
The works of the exhibition “Salvador Dali. Sacred Message” are kept in a private Italian collection. Thanks to Moscow's company Artgit they have been travelling throughout Russia for several years. It was not easy to get them to Vologda. The citizens of Vologda had to wait their turn for over a year. The works of Salvador Dali arrived in our city on September 15 from Plyos. In Vologda, they will be on display until November 15.
The exhibition project "Sacred Message" presents the most large-scale graphic series in Dali's work - his illustrations for the Old and New Testament - for the first time in Russia. None of the 105 works presented in the exhibition by Salvador Dali are kept in the collections of Russian museums, which allows to call this project unique without exaggeration.
Salvador Dali’s works have always contained the biblical motifs. Few people know that the artist illustrated even the most famous Our Lord's Prayer.
The exhibition "Salvador Dali. Sacred Message" certainly reveals new facets in the work of one of the most talented representatives of Spanish art, and his biblical works attract the attention of viewers not only because of their painting, but they also reveal the new meanings of the Bible.
