The festival is named after Valery Gavrilin, the great Russian composer, People's artist of Russia who was born in Vologda. This year it is devoted to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Valery Gavrilin.
The festival is organized by the RF Ministry of Culture with an active backing of the Vologda Oblast Government and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Vologda Oblast. The main objective of the event is to reveal new talents and to perpetuate the memory of Valery Gavrilin.
VIII International Gavrilin Festival will be held in Vologda on October 5 through December 5, 2019.
Musicians from Russian regions and foreign countries will participate in it. It is planned to organize numerous concerts, master classes and other festival events.
This time the festival will be kicked off by the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra. The Moscow State Symphony Orchestra is a Russian orchestra, based in Moscow. The orchestra gives concerts primarily at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.
