Cultural news in the Vologda region

The conference “Russia’s North” will gather over 70 experts from Russia and Austria on February 27-March 2 in Vologda and Tot’ma. The event will touch upon problems of study and preservation of historical and cultural heritage.

The conference is organized by the Vologda State University, administration of Tot’ma and Tot’ma Museum Association.

The following themes will be in the highlight of the conference:

Historical and archival research of the Russian North;

Tot’ma in the cultural picture of the Russian North;

History of bell ringing in Russia’s North;

Museums of the Russian North, museum collections;

Russian North: cultural landscapes, architecture, industrial heritage;

Ethnography of the Russian North;

Tourism of the Russian North.
