From July 1 to July 10, 2020, the Vologda Oblast will host the XV International Theatre Festival “Voices of History”. The performances of the festival will be shown in 4 cities of the region: Vologda, Cherepovets, Kirillov and Belozersk.
The festival has been held since 1991 and today is the brand mark of the Vologda region. Its feature is the open air component, when plays are performed at outdoor venues within the walls of the architectural ensemble of the Vologda Kremlin.
Over the years of the realization of the festival, over 150 performances of theaters from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, and the USA were shown within the Kremlin walls.
The formation of the festival programme is carried out by the expert council, which includes leading theatrical personalities of Russia, and it is based on applications and visual materials of theatres. The programme will include competitive and non- competitive performances.
Applications and visual materials for participation in the competitive programme of the festival of dramatic performances of Russian and foreign professional theatres are accepted from theatrical organizations in two directions:
– plays prepared by theatres for performance in a historical and architectural environment;
– plays in traditional theatre rooms, representing historical events and / or historical characters.
The non-competitive programme includes performances of Russian and foreign professional theatres that meet the objectives of the festival and one of the following conditions:
– performances of other types of theatrical art (opera, ballet, puppet show, etc.) rather than those presented in the competitive programme;
– additional (second) performances of theatres participating in the competitive programme of the festival;
– guest performances, that are positioned as theatrical performances of leading Russian or foreign professional theatres, having received an assessment of an authoritative professional theater forum (forums).
Also, a special programme of puppet theatres "Stories +" will be held at the festival.
Applications for participation in the festival are accepted from November 20, 2019 to January 31, 2020 in the attached form.
The festival is ready to provide assistance in the preparation of recommendation letters of a professional forum for acquisition financial support at the federal and regional levels, as well as in funds that support cultural programmes.
