Veliky Ustyug is in the list of Russia's cities that are most popular destinations for New Year holidays, according to a study conducted by e-service for searching hotels Tvil.ru.

The study, which searched for the most popular and affordable options for tourists, compiled its results based on the number of hotel reservations for winter holidays on December 31, 2019 – January 9, 2020.

The top ten of the rating includes such Russian most popular cities as St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Petrozavodsk, Suzdal, Yaroslavl, Yekaterinburg, Tver, Kaliningrad and Veliky Ustyug.

Veliky Ustyug has much to offer the discerning visitor. It has a remarkable place on Russia's tourist map. With a unique cultural and historical heritage, the city, abundant with architectural monuments and arts, has great tourism potential.

The official residence of Ded Moroz (Russia's Santa Claus) is located in Veliky Ustyug. It is in traditional "terem" style. The residence welcomes visitors all year around, but naturally it is especially popular during the New Year's holiday season.
