The Moscow Easter festival is organized by world-famous conductor Valery Gergiev. The festival is held under support of the Moscow government, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and with the blessing of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.

This year an eagerly anticipated event in Russia's cultural calendar – the XVII Moscow Easter Festival will be held from 8 April to 9 May 2018. This record music marathon will run for 32 days.

Traditionally, the festival presents four programs – symphonic, choral, chamber and bell-ringing. The concerts by world-acclaimed soloists and acclaimed music ensembles will be held at major concert venues in Moscow and Russia's regions.

On April 27th the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev appeared in the Vologda Region. The first concert started at 12.00 in Cherepovets and in the evening, at 19:00, the Vologda Drama Theatre hosted a performance of the XVII Moscow Easter Festival. That was an unforgettable event in the cultural life of the cities of the Vologda Region that hosted the festival.

The Mariinsky Orchestra musicians and Valer Gergiev plan to cover 20 000 kilometres and perform in almost thirty Russian towns and cities. The musicians of the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev are able to undertake such a major journey thanks to a specially chartered train of the Moscow Easter Festival, which takes the ensemble to Russia's remotest regions.
