On the night of May 19 to 20, museums of the Vologda Region will join the international campaign Night of Museums.
Organized as part of the International Museum Day, that is celebrated worldwide each year on or around 18 May, this day is an opportunity to educate the public about the issues of museums in the development of society. On this occasion Vologda’s museums will prepare a special program - exhibitions, concerts, performances, master classes and historical reconstruction.
On this day museums in many European cities are open all night long, to show visitors the behind-the-scenes action and to display one-off exhibitions and performances. Many of them offer a free entrance. Vologda’s museums will organize excursions, academic readings, museum and theatre performances, and special activities with children.
