A meeting with Ms. Ruth Scheidegger-Meier will take place in the Vologda State Museum-Preserve on October 23. The meeting will be devoted to her father Gerhard Meier (20.06.1917 – 22.06.2008), a classical Swiss writer. Famous prose writer and poet, winner of a number of literature prizes, Gerhard Meier studied the work of Leo Tolstoy, and wrote a novel entitled "Borodino" (1982).
The visit of Ruth Scheidegger-Meier to Vologda is devoted to 100th anniversary of the birth of Gerhard Meier. Ms. Ruth Scheidegger-Meier will tell about the life and works of her father and read some poems and excerpts from his most famous works.
Ruth Scheidegger-Meier visited the Vologda Region several times. In 2012 Ruth Scheidegger-Meier, presented a gift to the Vologda State Museum-Preserve - a collection of lace articles dating from the 18th-20th centuries. In 2014 she presented unique gifts to the Vologda Lace Museum, an affiliate with the Vologda State Museum-Preserve - an album with samples of fabrics dating from 1793.
