On August 31 the Deputy Head of the Vologda Region Department of Culture and Tourism presented a tourism project “Silver Necklace of Russia” within the framework of the international exhibition - fair AGRORUS-2016. He told about the main stages of the implementation of the project and guidelines for further development.
In 2015 the authorities of the Vologda Oblast jointly with the Russian Ministry of Culture have decided to launch a tourism project “Silver Necklace of Russia” in the region.
Silver Necklace of Russia is implemented with an active support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Federal Tourism Agency.
Silver Necklace of Russia is a unique tourism product (brand) consisting of chain of routes crossing ancient Russian cities with unique historical and cultural heritage of Northwest Russia. The Silver Necklace of Russia is a tourist project across 11 regions of the Russian Federation - Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Pskov, Novgorod regions, Saint Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia and the Komi Republic, Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
Eight cities of the Vologda Region are part of the Silver Necklace of Russia project. They are Vologda, Cherepovets, Belozersk, Tot’ma, Veliky Ustyug, Vytegra, Kirillov and Ustyuzhna.
The Silver Necklace offers various types of tourism, including cultural and educational tours and pilgrimages, which are popular among Russian tourists.
