III International Lace Festival VITA LACE will be held in Vologda in June, 2017. It will be devoted to ecology and environment. The Russian president has signed a decree making 2017 the Year of Ecology. The move is designed to attract public attention to environmental problems, maintain ecological diversity and protect the ecological security of the country.
Russian historians, restorers and private collectors from Moscow, Vologda, Nizhny Novgorod, Leningrad Region took part in the international scientific conference in Moscow. Participating in the conference were Director of Venice's Lace Museum, located at the historic palace of Podestà of Torcello, historic Lace school of Burano and Director of the Fashion and Lace Museum in Calais, France.
The participants of the conference spoke about the history of lace production in Russia and Europe, researches, the issues of preservation and restoration of lace, the role of the traditional lace in contemporary art and design.
The Festival VITA LACE supported by the RF Ministry of Culture was held in Vologda twice – in 2011 and 2014.
Hudreds of trade visitors from Russian regions and foreign countries attend it. Foreign and Russian companies display their products, equipment and achievements in flax cultivation and processing.
In general, the Festival collects everything related to the world of linen industry: fabrics, clothes, textile, souvenirs, as well as looms, spinning machines and accessories.
The program of the festival includes lace making competitions and exhibitions, thematic lace making workshops, round-table discussions, fashion shows and numerous accompanying events of a creative and cultural nature.
