Ms. Suzanne Bodoin has visited the Art Department, the Lace Museum and the Vologda Open-Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography with excursions.
During her acquaintance with the museum the consul was accompanied by Irina Velieva, deputy head of the Tourism and Museums Development Division of the Culture and Tourism Department, Julia Evseeva, director general of the Vologda State Museum-Reserve, and Vera Savko, Public Affairs Assistant of U.S. Consulate in St. Petersburg.
The purpose of the official visit became the questions of cooperation for the International Folk American Music Festival organization. For six years already festival participants bring American musical hits of different styles to Vologda: blues, bluegrass, conjunto, zydeco. The Folk American Music Festival has become bright and recognizable event of the Vologda project “Festival Summer”, which unites all big cultural events in Vologda Region.
“Ms. Suzanne Bodoin’s visit to Vologda means the continuation of long term cultural cooperation. We hope, that the seventh American Festival will take place in Vologda” – said Vera Savko, U.S. Consulate Public Affairs Assistant.
Besides music festival events the Vologda State Museum-Reserve succeeded in cooperation with U.S. Consulate in St. Petersburg in the field of restoration of architectural monuments. As a result we can see renovated monument “Kopylov’s House” on the territory of the Vologda Open-Air Museum of Architecture and Ethnography.
