Vologda's Governor took part in a historical festival arranged on the territory of the Sugorye Historic-Ethnographic Complex.
The Sugorye Historic-Ethnographic Museum Complex was created in the open air in 2010 under public-private partnership to preserve the monuments on the territory of the District of Kirillov. Here in the land of white nights one can step back in time to an era that exemplified grace and tranquility where many Russian buildings and monuments are preserved in their original appearance. Many tourists from Russia and foreign countries visit this place every year to get acquainted with the early history of Russia.
During the festival, the tourists were able to plunge into that feeling that makes a fascinating atmosphere especially for events of cultural nature and presentations. Handicrafts of artisans immortalizing traditions of pottery and smithery were demonstrated. Tourists were given opportunity to become acquainted with our old household and ethnographic traditions. Old household items and tools help to understand the peculiarities of everyday life and labour in old Rus.
Mr. Kuvshinnikov said that the District of Kirillov is a magnet for tourists. This accomplished project contributes to turning our region to one of the tourist places and to preserving our historical past. Every year a great number of visitors flock here from different parts of Russia. The Sugorye Historic-Ethnographic Museum Complex may become one more place of interest not only for Russians but for foreign tourists as well. In 2014 2,4 mln people visited the Vologda Region. According to Forbes, Vologda is among Russia’s top 10 most visited cities.
