Hundreds of people watched the opening ceremony of the Sixth Festival of Young European Cinema VOICES that took place at the Lenkom Cinema. Famous guests from Russia and Europe, including Gérard Krawczyk, Naum Kleyman, Sergey Sholokhov and Krzysztof Zanussi, were welcomed on the red carpet.
«Festival has become very important not only for the Vologda region, for the whole country. The fact that a lot of guests and spectators have come here today proves that it will continue existing. We have been added to the world cinematographic map and must not only stay, but also consolidate our positions there», noted Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
This year’s festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the RF, the Globale Company (France), the Vologda Oblast Government and the Vologda City Administration.
«Vologda’s life is very bright, creative and rich in events. And VOICES holds a very significant and interesting place among them because plenty of foreigners and young creative people take part in it. VOICES is a highlight of our festival summer. It is necessary for local residents, first of all», underlined Vologda’s Mayor Yevgeny Shulepov.
According to a cinematographic tradition, the Vologda Oblast Governor and actress Daria Yekamasova were to break the plate with the VOICES logo, but it didn’t split. «It is a very good sign in cinematograph», noted the actress.
It should be added that the official competition program of the festival consists of seven films from Germany, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, Spain, France and Russia. Besides, residents and guests of Vologda will be able to see 37 out-of-competition movies.
