The festival is arranged with an active backing of the US Consulate General in St.Petersburg and the Vologda Oblast Government. Bluegrass Music Festivals were held in the Vologda Oblast three times. In 2013 the American musicians introduced a genre of music known as Conjunto music that was born out of south Texas at the end of the 19th century. Last year tejano and blues were presented in the Vologda Kremlin.

This time Terrance Simien, American zydeco musician, winner of the Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album for 2008, played the button accordion and the washboard at the Sixth International Festival of Traditional American Music. The event took place on the territory of the Vologda Kremlin and in the city of Belozersk.

Zydeco is a musical genre evolved in southwest Louisiana by French Creole speakers which blends blues, rhythm and blues, and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and the Native people of Louisiana.
