On the eve of the 60th anniversary of Severstal, one of the leading steelmakers in Russia, Vologda Oblast Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the First Museum of Industry was opened in Cherepovets.

The mission of the Cherepovets Museum of Industry is to encourage and inspire future generations of Cherepovets to work in the metallurgical sphere. The museum accomplishes this through its collections and programs, by examining the dynamic process of industrial development, by connecting the expertise of older generations with the inquisitiveness of young people, and by providing audiences of all ages with an engaging museum experience.

The museum includes eight exhibit spaces covering the whole industrial cycle. In the future the museum will also host events and festivals for schoolchildren and students.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov said in part that the main asset of this Museum is that it is devoted to origins of the development of steel industry in a particular region, and also tells about people who contributed to the development of the industry.
